Electrocauterization / Electro Surgery

Electro cauterization is a precise technique using electrical currents to coagulate tissue, control bleeding, and remove unwanted growths.

Electrocauterization

Electrocauterization is a procedure that uses an electrical current to burn away warts, moles and skin tags making it an effective way to remove them.

A dermatologist numbs the area with a local anesthetic and then uses a small probe to apply an electrical current to the warts, moles and skin tags burning away the tissue.

Electrocauterization can be used for:

  • Removing skin growths:  Remove warts, skin tags, and other benign growths.
  • Treating skin lesions:  Treat cherry hemangiomas, telangiectasias, and sebaceous hyperplasia.
  • Treating superficial cancers:  Treat superficial cancers, such as small basal cell carcinoma and early squamous cell carcinoma.
  • Treating actinic keratosis:  Treat actinic keratosis to prevent cancer development.
  • Scar revision:  Revise scars by removing unwanted tissue without putting pressure on the skin.
  • Hemostasis:  Control bleeding from small blood vessels during cutaneous surgery.

Electro Surgery

Electro surgery is a very versatile dermatological procedure for removing warts, moles and skin tags. This procedure has gained importance since it is easy to perform with minimal bleeding and down time and also with minimal side effects and complications. Electro Surgery also called as Radio Frequency ablation (RFA) has gained importance in the recent years as it is highly effective in the cutting of the skin lesions with adequate hemostasis at the same time because of good coagulation.

Electro Surgery can be used for:

  • Dermatitis papulosa nigra (skin condition with dark bumps)
  • Cherry angiomas (red skin growths)
  • Moles (Naevi)
  • Trichoepithelioma (hair follicle tumors)
  • Cutaneous horn (hard growth on skin)
  • Sebaceous hyperplasia (overgrowth of sebaceous glands)
  • Mole removal
  • Earlobe repair
